The purpose of the More at Four Pre-Kindergarten Program is to provide quality educational pre-kindergarten experiences in order to enhance school readiness for four-year-olds who need additional help to prepare for kindergarten. The program is community-based, voluntary, and designed to prepare at-risk four-year-olds in Johnston County for school success.

For the 2007 / 2008 School Year Johnston County has 421 slots.

First priority will be given to children who are not currently in an early childhood education setting and meet More at Four criteria. 

Your child might qualify to participate in the More at Four Program in Johnston County if-  

• At least one parent or legal guardian is an active member of the armed forces of the United States.

• Your child is not currently enrolled in a preschool program.

• Your child turns 4 years on or before October 16, 2007 (for the 2007-2008 school year).**

• Your child has health concerns or special needs.

• Your child qualifies for financial assistance.

• English is your child’s second language.

**For the 2008-09 school year, the age deadline has been revised and the child must be 4 years old by August 31, 2008.
